Welcome to Wild Acre

About Wild Acre

Kate the founder of wild Acre and black labrador walking in the English countryside, Towcester, Northamptonshire

Wild Acre may be relatively new, but my love of floristry began eight years ago, around a kitchen table in Northamptonshire.

A good friend’s mum taught me to make my first Christmas wreath when we were part of the same NCT group — surrounded by three-month-old babies, slightly sleep-deprived and probably wondering quite what we were doing! Somewhere amongst the blur of that stage, I discovered something that stayed with me.

From that first wreath, I was hooked. I began making my own each Christmas, experimenting with foliage, colour and texture, and gradually developing an instinct for creating arrangements that feel abundant, natural and beautifully considered.

Before long, friends were asking me to help make theirs too. And while there are only so many wreaths one home can hold, I found myself wanting to create more. With plenty of encouragement and a little leap of faith, I created Wild Acre.

Still based in the Northamptonshire countryside, I create fresh and faux floral designs inspired by the seasons — from wreaths, bouquets and arrangements to statement pieces for homes, gatherings and beautiful spaces.

There are so many talented florists and makers doing wonderful things, and I take inspiration from many of them. For me, though, Wild Acre is about the details. Beautiful quality flowers and foliage, plenty of texture, considered colour and a slightly wild, natural feel — all brought together by hand to create something with its own character.

You can often find me foraging on a dog walk with Wilson, my black Lab, husband and two boys in tow, keeping an eye out for an interesting bit of foliage or anything else that catches my eye. The creative mind never really switches off.

And perhaps the best thing this journey has taught me so far? Follow your instincts, make space for the things you love, and sometimes you just have to take the plunge.
